EMAIL - PEC
Do you want to have certified e-mails? The answer is PEC (Certified E-mail)
Certified e-mail (PEC) is the new system, fast and secure, through which it is possible to send e-mails with a legal value equivalent to a registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, as established by current regulations (Presidential Decree no. 68 of 11 February 2005).
What does PEC mean?

Certified e-mail (PEC) is the new system, fast and secure, through which it is possible to send e-mails with a legal value equivalent to a registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, as established by current regulations (Presidential Decree no. 68 of 11 February 2005).
The certified e-mails have strong similarities with the “traditional” e-mail service, to which, however, characteristics have been added such as to provide users with the certainty, with legal validity, of sending and delivery (or not) of e-mail messages to the recipient. PEC Electronic Mail guarantees, in case of litigation, the opposability of the message to third parties. With the PEC E-Mail system the certainty of the content is guaranteed: the security protocols used to make it impossible to modify the content of the message and any attachments. In every notice sent by the operators, there is also a time reference, which certifies the date and time of each of the operations described. Managers obviously send alerts even in case of an error in any of the process phases (acceptance, sending, delivery), so that there is never any doubt about the status of the sending of a message. In the event that the sender loses the receipts, the computer trace of the operations carried out, kept by the operator by law for 30 months, allows the reproduction, with the same legal value, of the receipts themselves. Moreover, with the new law decree n. 2 dated 28/01/2009, the obligation for Companies, Professionals and Public Administrations to create and communicate their own “virtual” headquarters, identified by a Pec address, to be placed side by side with the physical headquarters has been triggered.

The advantages of certified mail for companies and institutions:
  • Savings in communications: comparing the cost of a PEC box with that of tools such as faxes and registered mail, it is clear that savings can be made combined with faster workflows. A PEC box has a fixed annual cost, so there are no additional costs depending on usage.
  • Simplicity: the PEC service is used in the same way as normal e-mail, both via client program (e.g. Outlook Express) and via webmail.
  • Convenience: the sending and consultation of the mailbox can be done via any computer connected to the Internet, moreover any digital format can be sent via certified e-mail
  • Security: The service uses the secure protocols POP3s, IMAPs, SMTPs and HTTPs. All communications are protected because they are digitally encrypted and signed. This is why you can always be sure that messages sent or received cannot be forged.
  • Legal value: PEC is recognised as having full legal value: it is a tool that allows you to give an e-mail message the same legal validity as a registered letter with return receipt, such receipts can be used as proof of sending, receiving and also of the content of the message sent.
  • No Virus and Spam: the certain identification of the sender of each message received and the fact that no non-certified messages can be received, make the PEC service almost immune from the annoying junk mail.

Who are the certified e-mails addressed to?
The offer of Certified E-mail is addressed to all those who need to send and receive messages, official communications or attachments in a secure way, with proof of sending and delivery, comfortably from their PC without queues or long waits. PEC guarantees the optimization and improvement of communications of individuals and companies with sales networks, suppliers, partners, professional offices and local authorities.
