Statistical analysis of user visits on the Internet
In recent years, we have seen exponential growth in the importance attached to the statistical analysis of traffic data on websites. The reason for this growing interest is that such traffic data, when properly analysed, provides information about the success of a site or part of it. Thanks to the analysis of access statistics it is possible to know:
- who are the users of your site and where they come from;
- how much time they spend on different pages;
- what means are used to access the site;
- which pages users visit;
- what actions users take;
Andare ad analizzare il numero di accessi o di page view, insieme ai percorsi di visita seguiti, uniti al tempo di permanenza sulle singole pagine, per i gestori di un sito rappresentano informazioni estremamente utili:
- all’area commerciale, per definire valide strategie ed apportare eventuali aggiustamenti nel campo delle vendite, della promozione o della comunicazione;
- all’area tecnica, al fine di valutare se la struttura delle pagine invogliano oppure scoraggiano la permanenza dei visitatori sul sito;
- all’area marketing, per analizzare le dinamiche del mercato, così da misurarne le performance e cogliere eventuali opportunità di crescita per puntare su nuovi clienti;
- all’area editoriale, per comprendere quali sono i contenuti sui quali puntare e quali, invece, da modificare.
